Dryland 2012 – Our best off season training program ever starts April 3rd!

We have been taking bookings at a record pace and will sell out in April. Please book now and tell your friends that space is filling up quickly. As you know we are a small (but awesome!) facility and as in past years we will unfortunately turn players away once we sell out. Even if you are a returning athlete you need to book now as we assign our spots on a first come first serve basis.

The OSPC Team has taken Hockey Dryland Training to the next level. Where your son or daughter plays next season begins and ends with the quality of their off-season training. The OSPC offers every athlete the edge necessary to head into try-outs or training camp in the best hockey condition possible. The OSPC is proud to offer you an unbelievable staff of experienced and professional trainers. Our 6,000 sq ft open concept facility is great for all facets of our summer program and is strengthened with a 700 sq ft cycling studio (Cyclepathic) for active recovery days as well as conditioning and a 500 sq ft skating treadmill THE BLADE (OTTAWAS MOST ADVANCED, BIGGEST AND FASTEST TREADMILL). Top players at every level in Ottawa train at the OSPC and all it takes is one visit to see why we are the home of hockey dryland strength and conditioning in Ottawa.

Your program is comprised of three phases:
Phase 1 – Rebuilding the Body – allow the body to recover after a long season with a focus on re-building core strength, balance, aerobic capacity flexibility and coordination ensuring a solid training foundation.
Phase 2 – Full Body Strength and Anaerobic Conditioning – this phase takes on a more dynamic full body approach to strength and conditioning. With the introduction of more challenging exercises, the body is forced to move through higher volume of exercises increasing their anaerobic capacity, rotary strength and deceleration to acceleration skills.
Phase 3 – Explosive Speed and Reactivity – the final phase puts it all together with powerful exercises to increase that ever important first step quickness and incorporates combative exercises ensuring athletes win the battles for the puck.

All Programs run from April 3th to August 25th and costs are as follows:

Young Guns (2000 and younger) – 2 days per week – 42 sessions – $750 +HST

Bantams, Midgets, Elites (CJHL, OHL, NCAA, etc.)
- Option 1 – 3 days per week – 63 sessions – $1299+HST.
- Option 2 – 3 days per week until June 25thth and then 5 days until Aug 25th – 80 sessions – $1650 +HST.

Pros (NHL, AHL, and Euros) – custom program depending on when your season ends – custom cost.

Dryland 2012 will sell out so please register ASAP. A $200 deposit is required upon registration. Registering early will also increase your chances of training with the group, time and trainer you desire. Cumberland Soccer – how did you score on the fitness test?

Thank you for participating in the OSPC’s Cumberland Cobras Fitness Testing Day. All scores have been provided to the evaluators for their review. We thought that it would be fun to also allow you to compare your scores to other athletes in a large database of other elite soccer players. If you connect to the Nike SPARQ web site via the link at the bottom of this web page you will be able to log your scores into the Nike site and get your Nike SPARQ score. Once on the Nike site just select your sport – either boys soccer or girls soccer – and enter the scores from the card that you received at the fitness test. Don’t be discouraged if your score seems low because this database includes not only teen age athletes but also includes college age athletes within the NCAA program – so getting your number is just for fun. Please note that the OSPC is not affiliated with Nike nor Nike SPARQ but simply use the same tests as the good people of Nike.

If your team will be completing pre season training at the OSPC we look forward to seeing you soon. If your team is not training with us but you (or maybe your mom or dad?) would like to train with the OSPC we have several options for you to consider: 1) indoor cycling – improve your endurance and get into game shape 2) participate in our Athlete Program – an after school drop in program for focused athletes 3) personal training – one on one (or two if you want to do it with a friend) is a way to focus on your personal needs. Call or drop by the OSPC to set up a training plan.

No Coincidence – OSPC Athletes score big in OHL and CJHL Drafts

The OSPC congratulates all of our athletes who were recently drafted in the OHL and CJHL 2011 drafts. Leading the way in the OHL draft was Nick Baptiste who was selected in the first round by the Sudbury Wolves. OSPC trainer, Scott Heffernan commented “Nick obviously has great natural ability but when you see how hard he works in the gym and on the ice you realize that it is the combination of talent and work ethic that resulted in his first round selection.

Ottawa 67s AAA forward Jacob Jammes was a second round pick of the London Knights after completing a fantastic minor midget campaign. OSPC trainer Chris Smith said, “Jacob is calm and cool but his intensity is incredible. His upside is limitless.”

The CJHL draft was also a great night for OSPC athletes. Over half of the minor midgets drafted into the CJHL are OSPC products. When you consider that kids from Cornwall, Renfrew and Prescott who were drafted are not able to train at the OSPC you get a true sense of how dominant OSPC athletes were at the draft.
